Sara Ali Khan and her mom, actress Amrita Singh, visited the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan on Friday. The Love Aaj Kal actress shared glimpses of her visit to the religious site on her Instagram profile and wished her fans ‘Jumma Mubarak‘ in the caption of her post. Twinning in traditional pastel green outfits, Sara and Amrita Singh can be seen posing inside the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, where they sought blessings, in one of the pictures while others show them standing outside the mosque. The mother-daughter duo wore matching face masks. “Jumma Mubarak,” Sara Ali Khan wrote in the caption with adorable icons.

Later in the day, Sara Ali Khan and Amrita Singh headed to Jaipur to do some sightseeing. Sara posted photos of the Amer Fort and the Hawa Mahal on her Instagram stories. Take a look:

Sara, earlier this month, celebrated mom Amrita Singh’s birthday by sharing a set of pictures of herself, her brother Ibrahim and the senior actress – all of them sporting matching blue outfits – from one of their vacations. Sara’s caption, as usual, was quirky. She wrote: “Happy Birthday to my whole world. Thank you for being my mirror, strength and inspiration. I lo-blue the most” and added hashtags like #likemotherlikedaughter #twinning #winning #soulsisters #bosslady #beautiful and #maa.

In terms of work, Sara Ali Khan was last seen in Coolie No 1, in which she co-starred with Varun Dhawan. The film failed to impress critics, as well as cine-lovers.

The actress has Atrangi Re with Akshay Kumar and Dhanush lined up. The film is being directed by Aanand L Rai.

UP Man Shoots Nephew Dead. Victim Was Recording Video

The men were drinking and chatting before one of them shot the victim, recording the video

A man casually picks up a country-made pistol, loads it with a bullet and shoots his nephew dead, visuals from a chilling video, recorded by the victim, from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar show. The mobile phone falls from the victim’s hand after he was shot and visuals are lost.

19-year-old Prince’s painful moans are heard in the video after he was shot even as the group he was with talk casually. Two others, apart from the victim and accused, were seen in the video (one of whose face was not visible) who were drinking and casually passing the pistol around.

The 30-second bizarre video, that has been widely shared on social media, shows the men talking and laughing before one of them shoots the victim who was recording their video.

One of the accused has been arrested, police said, although they did not specify if it was the shooter.

Reports in the local media say that the arrested person has claimed that the shooter was just “checking out” the pistol when he fired at his nephew.

The mindless murder happened two days ago. Alcohol bottles are seen lying around from what it seems is a tubewell in the middle of a farm where the group was drinking, possibly in the evening.

The Muzaffarnagar police replied with a tweet to the video of the crime saying that a case has been filed and efforts are on to arrest the other accused in the case.

BJP Truth Bombs For AAP's Surat Bash Get Quick Arvind Kejriwal Comebacks

Arvind Kejriwal held a huge roadshow in Surat on Friday.

New Delhi:

For the Aam Aadmi Party, flying in chief Arvind Kejriwal to celebrate its success in the municipal elections in Gujarat’s Surat, deep inside the BJP’s impenetrable citadel, the state boss of the ruling party had some cold water.

Gujarat BJP chief CR Paatil said Mr Kejriwal was holding a roadshow to celebrate the large number of AAP candidates who had lost their election deposits – forfeited when a candidate fails to get one-sixth of the total valid votes.

The tweets, however, drew prompt responses from the Delhi Chief Minister.

Buoyed by the AAP’s performance in the recently-held civic polls, party chief Arvind Kejriwal has already set his eyes on the 2022 Gujarat assembly elections.

Mr Kejriwal, who arrived in Surat on Friday, said that the AAP would seek votes from the people of the state in the next assembly polls based on the performance of the party’s 27 newly-elected corporators in the city.

Polls to six civic bodies in Gujarat, including in Surat, were held on Sunday. While the BJP retained power in the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) by winning 93 seats, the AAP got the remaining 27 seats. The Congress failed to win even a single seat.

During his address to the party corporators in Surat, Mr Kejriwal said, “The people of Gujarat are watching you with great hope. In our first attempt, AAP won 28 Assembly seats in Delhi and came to power. People trusted us because they knew that we are true patriots, as we were associated with Anna Hazare’s agitation.”

Arvind Kejriwal said the AAP would now focus on the 2022 Gujarat elections.

“In the 49 days of our rule, we did a lot of ‘pro-people’ work. As a result, the people of Delhi gave us 67 seats in the second election. Now, six crore people of Gujarat will observe the work of 27 AAP corporators. If you perform well, I am sure there will be a huge revolution in 2022,” the Delhi chief minister added.

Fearing a “poaching attempt”, Mr Kejriwal warned the elected representatives to inform the party leaders if “anyone from the BJP” contacts them over the phone and gives an offer to switch sides.

“I am sure that BJP people will call you. But remember, our true wealth is people’s trust. If anyone of you switches side, it will break the trust of six crore people. Even if one person switches side, the BJP and others will get a chance to say that AAP is no different from others,” he said.

Irrfan Khan's Son Babil Loves Makeup And Skincare. His Response To Those Who Ask "Are You A Girl?"

Babil shared this photo (courtesy babil.i.k )

  • “I love looking after my skin,” wrote Babil
  • “You are not a man till you realise your feminine dimension,” he said
  • “I love being a man,” he added

New Delhi:

Late actor Irrfan Khan’s son Babil, who often trends for shattering stereotypes, revealed in an Instagram post that he is often asked “Are you a girl?” for his love for makeup and skincare. “Can you believe some people STILL go, ‘Are you a girl?’ when I apply face masks or make-up before going out?” read an excerpt from his post. With his post, Babil also decided to address the issue and wrote down in response of sorts for those who think makeup is gender specific. “I think every person is made up of a cosmic duality and what truly makes you a man is recognising the woman inside you. You are not a man till you realise your feminine dimension, because that exactly is toxic masculinity. I love looking after my skin, I love looking sexy, I love women and I love being a man.”

To go with his views, Babil shared before and after videos of his face care routine. Babil’s post is truly a lesson on how to call out toxic masculinity.

On Valentine’s Day, Babil shared an ROFL post, featuring a snippet of his face mask session: “Breakout season. Putting a face mask to meet absolutely nobody on Valentine’s Day,” he wrote.

Babil, who studies films and acting in London, recently revealed in an interaction with a follower that he will be looking for acting offers after his graduation. Responding to a fan, who asked Babil about his venture into the “field of acting” in the comments section, he replied: “I am already in the field of acting, when I will appear in a film is the question. Once I have graduated around May, I will start looking into offers.”

Vehicle With Explosives Found Near Mukesh Ambani's House In Mumbai

A Scorpio SUV with the explosive substance was found near Mukesh Ambani’s home.

An abandoned vehicle with explosive material was found near business tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s house in Mumbai on Thursday, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said, in a bomb scare just metres away from where India’s richest man lives under high security.

“A Scorpio van with some gelatin was found at some distance from Mukesh Ambani’s home in Mumbai. The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating it. The truth will come out,” Mr Deshmukh said.

According to police sources, a suspicious vehicle was reported on Carmichael Road on Thursday evening. The police was alerted and a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad or BDDS team and other police teams reached the spot immediately.

“They examined the vehicle and found 20 explosive gelatin sticks inside. It is not an assembled explosive device. Further investigation is going on,” police sources said. They added the car was parked in the area around 1 am last night, according to CCTV footage.

Police sources also said that a letter had been found inside the vehicle but did not disclose its contents. Intriguingly, they said, the vehicle’s registration number matched one on Mr Ambani’s security detail.

Security has been increased in the area, the SUV has been seized and senior officers of the Mumbai Police examined the spot.

Mr Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, lives in a luxurious, 27-storey, 400,000 sq feet building called Antilia in south Mumbai’s posh Cumballa Hill area. His family moved into the building in 2012.

Designed by Chicago-based firm Perkins and Will, it reportedly has three helipads, a 168-car garage, a ballroom, nine high-speed elevators, a 50-seat theatre, terrace gardens, swimming pool, spa, healthcentre, a temple, and a snow room.

The incident comes less than a month after a “very low-intensity” IED (improvised explosive device) blast near the Israeli embassy in the heart of central Delhi, sparked a scare in the high-security area.

The blast took place 1.4 kilometres from Vijay Chowk, where President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior members of the government had gathered for the Beating Retreat ceremony that follows the Republic Day parade.

Delhi Police Junks Reports Of Arvind Kejriwal's "Z-Plus" Security Cut

Reports quoted unnamed AAP sources claiming Arvind Kejriwal’s security had been reduced.

New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s security cover remains intact with 63 people assigned to guard him, the Delhi Police said on Thursday, refuting reports that claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party leader’s protection had been pared down.

“Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has Z-Plus security from Delhi Police which comprises pilot, escort, close protection team, home guard, spotter, search-and-frisking staff etcetera in the form of 47 plain-clothes personnel and 16 uniformed personnel from CRPF,” police spokesperson Chinmay Biswal said.

“The security cover provided to him remains unchanged and there has been no reduction in the number of personnel provided to him. Four policemen have been replaced by four other policemen for administrative reasons. The security rules in the ‘yellow book’ that are followed say this is a normal procedure. The Z-Plus security remains intact,” he added.

The statement came after media reports quoting unnamed sources in the AAP government claimed that a day before Mr Kejriwal’s roadshow in Gujarat’s Surat, his security cover had been scaled down.

The Delhi Police reports to the BJP-led central government and not Mr Kejriwal’s administration – a distinction that has led to several face-offs over his six-year term that famously began with him refusing security cover as a denunciation of VIP-culture.

“The development at the behest of the BJP leadership has come two days after the Aam Aadmi Party’s impressive performance in the Gujarat civic body polls,” news agency PTI quoted a source as saying.

The number of commandos of the Delhi Police in Mr Kejriwal’s security has now been reduced from six to two, the sources alleged.

Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj demanded “the reasons” behind the “petty decision”. “The MHA has withdrawn four police commandos from Arvind Kejriwal’s security. It’s sad and regrettable that the Centre could compromise with someone’s security like this,” he said.

He said Kejriwal was attacked several times in the past and yet he has a security cover comprising of only six police commandos which is negligible as compared to that of other Chief Ministers or central government ministers.

Mr Bhardwaj said the move comes two days after the AAP’s “grand” performance in Gujarat civic body polls, traditionally dominated by the BJP.

The AAP has won 27 seats in the municipal polls in Surat, where the party convener will attend a roadshow on Friday. Mr Kejriwal had termed the party’s success in Gujarat as the beginning of a new politics in the state.

No Protection From Arrest For Amazon Top Executive In 'Tandav' Row

Tandav row: Amazon India executive Aparna Purohit is named in an FIR in UP’s Noida

A single-judge bench of the Allahabad High Court has rejected an anticipatory bail application filed by Aparna Purohit, a top Amazon executive in India over a UP Police FIR in Noida against the makers of the web series ‘Tandav’. Ms Purohit has been accused of promoting religious enmity and defiling a place of worship.

Ms Purohit has protection from arrest in a second, separate case filed by the police in Lucknow, and a different judge in the Allahabad High Court extended that protection till March 9 three days ago.

Making strong observations while rejecting Ms Purohit’s anticipatory bail plea in the Noida case, in a 20-page order, Justice Siddharth said, “The conduct of the applicant shows that she has scant respect for the law of the land and her conduct further disentitles her to any relief from this court.”

In further observations, the judge said, “Whenever such crimes are committed by some citizens of the country, like the applicant and her co-accused persons, and it is made the subject matter of demonstration and public protest, the forces inimical to the interest of this country become active and they make it an issue and raise it before different national and international forums alleging that the Indian citizens have become intolerant and ‘India’ has become unsafe place to live.

“Even in the liberal democracies of the West, it becomes a topic of debate and the Indian diplomacy has to face tough time protecting the interest of the country and assuring the international community that the protests made against such acts are stray and genuine and it is not mark of any intolerance in the country as a whole.”

Referring to the case of comedian Munawar Faruqui, who recently got bail from the Supreme Court after spending several days in a Madhya Pradesh prison, the judge said, “Western filmmakers have refrained from ridiculing Lord Jesus or the Prophet, but Hindi filmmakers have done this repeatedly and still doing this most unabashedly with Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Things are worsening as is evident from the fact that an obscure stand-up comedian, Munawar Faruqui, from Gujarat made comments on Hindu God and Goddesses in a New Year show at Indore and gained undue publicity on being arrested in a case.

“This shows that from films this trend has passed to comedy shows. Such people make the revered figures of religion of majority community source of earning money in most brazen manner taking benefit of the liberal and tolerant tradition of country. The Supreme Court has granted him relief recently after the same was denied by the high court.”

In further observations, Justice Siddharth said, “The fact remains that the applicant had not been vigilant and has acted irresponsibly making her open to criminal prosecution in permitting streaming of a movie which is against the fundamental rights of the majority of citizens of this country and therefore, her fundamental right of life and liberty cannot be protected by grant of anticipatory bail to her in the exercise of discretionary powers of this court.”

The court also commented on what it called a “growing tendency” on the part of the Hindi film industry to subvert the image of historical and mythological personalities. “If not curbed in time, it may have disastrous consequences for the Indian social, religious and communal order. There appears to be a design behind such acts on the part of people who just give a disclaimer in all the films and depict things in movies which are really religiously, socially and communally offensive in nature.

“The young generation of the country, which is not much aware of the social and cultural heritage of this country, gradually starts believing what is shown in the movies by people like the accused persons in the present movie in dispute and thereby, it destroys the basic concept of the survival of this country having tremendous diversity of all kinds as a united nation.”

After Tejashwi Yadav's Tractor Ride, Mamata Banerjee's Scooter Spin

The 5-kilometre ride passed over the Hooghly river bridge in Kolkata.

Mamata Banerjee arrived at work on an electric scooter today. The West Bengal Chief Minister, known for her modest “Santro” image, took things a notch up – or, perhaps, down – to drive home the point on spiralling fuel prices. In the run up to the state Assembly polls scheduled for April-May, today’s ride is an indication that the Trinamool Congress head isn’t going to let go off any opportunity to attack the BJP which has relentlessly badgered her government over the past many months.

Ms Banerjee’s ride today comes days after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, on Monday, drove a tractor to reach the Bihar assembly. He was expressing solidarity with those opposing three new farm laws and also protesting against the spike in prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas.

Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim rode the battery-powered scooter with her riding pillion. A considerable stretch of the five-kilometre trip from Kolkata’s Hazra More locality to the state secretariat in Nabanna passed over the Hooghly river bridge. The entire ride was telecast through Facebook Live.

“Kerosene is not available. One crore people in Bengal use it. Petrol-diesel (prices are) up. Gas up…even last night. That’s why I decided to take the scooter to work,” she said at a press conference in Nabanna after the ride.

“Modi is selling the country. This government is anti-people, anti-women, anti-farmer, and anti-young generation. We want this government to go,” she said.

In her trademark white cotton sari, Ms Banerjee also wore a helmet and mask during the ride. Her bike was also followed by a group of others.

However, what stood apart was an apron-like poster with the picture of an LPG cylinder, superscribed with terms like “petrol price hike” and “diesel price hike” under the heading “What is in your mouth”.
Fuel prices have increased considerably across the country over the past many weeks. In Kolkata, for instance, petrol costs Rs 91.12 and a cylinder of cooking gas comes at a reported Rs 820.50, rising three times this month alone.

“When elections come, they say they will give free gas. But that gas is so much gas…like a full hot air balloon. It is not the original gas, not LPG. It is gas that comes from lies,” Ms Banerjee said.

The state assembly polls are likely to be held in April-May and the BJP has gathered remarkable momentum in the run up, investing money, time, and energy. The ruling Trinamool has, meanwhile, tried to dub it an “outsider” party that doesn’t understand West Bengal. The poll campaign, till now, has been largely vitriolic.

Amid this, the battery-charged scooter ride today also seems like an attempt to reinforce her Hawaii-slipper-wearing everyday-woman image among voters.

Joe Biden Revokes Trump Ban On Many Green Card Applicants

Joe Biden rejected that reasoning in a proclamation on Wednesday rescinding the visa ban

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday revoked a proclamation from his predecessor that blocked many green card applicants from entering the United States.

Former President Donald Trump issued the ban last year, saying it was needed to protect U.S. workers amid high unemployment due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden rejected that reasoning in a proclamation on Wednesday rescinding the visa ban. The Democratic president said it had prevented families from reuniting in the United States and harmed U.S. businesses.

Biden, a Democrat, has pledged to reverse many of Trump’s hardline immigration policies. Immigrant advocates had pressed in recent weeks for him to lift the visa ban, which was set to expire on March 31.

Biden left in place another ban on most foreign temporary workers.

In October, a federal judge in California blocked Trump’s ban on those foreign guest workers as it affected hundreds of thousands of U.S. businesses that fought the policy in court.

Curtis Morrison, a California-based immigration attorney, who represents people subject to the ban said Biden will now have to tackle a growing backlog of applications that have been held up for months as the pandemic shut down most visa processing by the State Department. The process could potentially take years, he said.

“It’s a backlog that Trump created,” Morrison said. “He broke the immigration system.”

The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
